Hi, I’m Gavin Payn — drummer, teacher, and lifelong rhythm explorer! I run online drum lessons from my studio in Bristol, UK, helping drummers of all levels unlock their groove and confidence behind the kit. With years of gigging, recording, and teaching experience, I bring the energy of the stage and the precision of the studio into every lesson. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned player looking to refine your technique, my mission is simple: make learning drums fun, inspiring, and tailored to you.

My Journey Into Drumming

Music has been my world since I first picked up a guitar at age seven, but it was discovering drums at 17 that truly set me on my path. From that moment on, I never looked back. Over the years, I’ve performed across the UK in Funk, Soul, and original projects, while building my parallel career as a session drummer and educator. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible teachers like Rob Brian (Goldfrapp, Siouxsie Sioux) and Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth), and I now bring those insights into my online drum lessons. My teaching blends technique, musicality, and the joy of playing, so every session feels exciting and rewarding.
